Fused Glass - pay as you go afternoon & evening classes
Many of you have already had a go at fused glass and would like an opportunity to develop your skills further without having to make a commitment to a full length course. These pay as you go sessions allow you to expand your existing knowledge and work alongside other people who will have a different range of skills. You will be taught new skills as well as having the opportunity to practice skills you already have. You will also benefit from working with other students who have differing levels of skills and are likely to be working on a different technique to yourself. NB These must be booked in advance.
Cost: £30* per session inclusive of glass and supplies, use of tools, 1 kiln firing & refreshments Max Class Size: 4
* The fee of £30 includes the following: the cost of work to fit on half a kiln shelf (24 * 48 cm approx) and requiring 1 firing; 2 sheets of 2mm or 3mm clear float glass up to a max size each of 22cm by 46cm. Additional glass, materials and kiln firings are available but will incur an additional fee as follows: · £10 for a quarter sheet of glass (pro-rata for smaller amounts) · £10 per additional 1/2 kiln shelf space required · £20 per additional kiln firing eg for slumping (if I can fit 2 students work in the kiln for the additional firing, then the cost will be £10 each) If you require significant amounts of frits, powders, coloured glass or other materials for a piece, please get in touch in advance to discuss what I have available, any additional costs and what you will need to provide yourself - I will be able to advise on suppliers. I can discuss your needs with you and may be able to suggest cheaper alternative options for the effect you wish to create.
NB Please note that for fused glass courses work will not be ready for you to take away with you. I will contact you when the glass is ready for collection which depending on the course will typically be a few days. If you are unable to collect the glass, it can be posted at a fee of £6.50 for work from a taster, afternoon or evening session, £10 for work from a 1 or 2 day course. No guarantees can be made that the work will not break if being posted, but all effort will be made to wrap the pieces well enough to survive the postal service. |
